Between Saint-Malo and Cap Fréhel, the Emerald Coast lines up dozens of beaches, from big family beaches to wild coves. Here are our favourites, starting with the ones you can walk to from the apartment.
In Dinard, on foot from Bella Cruz
Prieuré beach · 100 metres away
This is "our" beach: sheltered, family-friendly and calm, ideal with children. It has a lovely view of the Rance estuary and Saint-Malo, and Port-Breton park is just opposite. In summer you will find water sports and a few beach restaurants.
Écluse beach · Dinard's main beach
At the heart of the resort, framed by villas and blue-and-white striped beach huts. It has a very popular seawater pool in summer and the statue of Alfred Hitchcock. It is also the best spot for sunsets.
Saint-Énogat beach · authentic Dinard
In Dinard's historic quarter, quieter than the centre. Sailing club, a beach club for children in summer, and rocks that are perfect for rock pooling at low tide.

Around Dinard, a few minutes away
Saint-Lunaire · the big beach and Pointe du Décollé
A vast fine-sand beach, popular with families and beginner surfers. Don't miss Pointe du Décollé, one of the finest viewpoints on the coast.
Saint-Briac-sur-Mer · the coves
A charming village with many small beaches and coves. La Salinette beach and the coastal path have a wilder feel.
Lancieux and Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer
Further west, big beaches and a peninsula where the sea goes out a long way at low tide: a paradise for rock pooling.
Our beach tips
- Watch the tides. The Emerald Coast has some of the biggest tidal ranges in Europe: a beach can double in size within a few hours.
- Supervised swimming: in summer, choose supervised beaches and follow the flags.
- The GR34, or customs officers' path, links most of these beaches on foot. A superb way to go from one to the next.
